New England Journal of Medicine Study

Non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) outperforms first trimester combined screening in both detection and false positive rate in a blinded head-to-head comparison study (n=15,841). The NIPT used in this study was Harmony.

More than 15,000 women, aged 18–48 and regardless of risk, were enrolled in this unique study that compared the performance of two prenatal tests. The results, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, showed that non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) significantly outperforms the current screening standard for trisomy 21.
