First, such testing can identify the underlying genetic basis for a familial immunological disorder, providing both a diagnosis and risk information for relatives. Sonic Genetics provides diagnostic tests for a variety of immunological disorders, including the familial fevers and hereditary angioedema types I, II, and III. Second, genetic testing can definitively identify the genetic basis of an HLA risk factor, and thereby improve the accuracy of risk prediction based on serology.
