Sonic Genetics, launched in 2014, is one of the most significant initiatives introduced by Sonic Healthcare, and is responsible for overseeing all genetic testing throughout Sonic. Sonic Genetics gives doctors and patients access to an extensive range of genetic tests, provided through Sonic Healthcare’s network of Australian and international laboratories.
In Australia, genetic testing is primarily performed at the laboratories of Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology in Brisbane and Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology in Sydney, as well as a small number of genetic assays offered through Melbourne Pathology Services. The purpose of Sonic Genetics is to enable a national provision and promotion of genetic testing services by Sonic, with a goal to becoming the national leader in provision of clinically relevant genetic diagnostic services in Australia. We are actively growing our assay menu, with significant plans for expansion to match demand and market need.
